Other reporting has suggested Kharazi was connected to the track exploring whether some kind of Pakistan-mediated meeting could still be arranged. That does not prove the strike was meant to kill diplomacy. It does mean the timing will be read that way.
This is how wars sabotage negotiation even when nobody publicly admits they are negotiating. You do not need to bomb a foreign ministry. You only need to make every potential interlocutor feel exposed, vulnerable or politically radioactive.
If the reports about Kharazi hold up, the signal is brutal: even the people associated with possible exits are no longer insulated from the war. And once that becomes true, backchannels shrink fast.
